Beth Kunkel, OD
Optometrist
Beth (Snyder) Kunkel grew up in Watertown, SD, and from a young age was interested in the human eye. Growing up there was constant discussion of the eye with her father Dr. Wayne Snyder, but she also has always had an overall interest in how the human body works.
Dr. Beth Kunkel received her BS in Biology and minor in Chemistry at the University of South Dakota. She then attended the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) in Chicago.
Dr. Beth says, “I love working at Snyder Eye Clinic and Kunkel-Snyder Optometric because I get to work with my family. It is nice having my husband and father as colleagues. We all bring something a little different to the clinic, which makes it well rounded.”
Matt Kunkel, OD
Optometrist
Matt Kunkel, OD, was born and raised in the northern Iowa town of Algona. He attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in May 2003. He was accepted to and went on to attend the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) in Chicago in the fall of 2003. In 2007, he received his Doctor of Optometry from ICO.
After graduation from ICO in 2007, Dr. Kunkel moved to Watertown, SD, married Dr. Beth (Snyder) Kunkel, and together they started Kunkel-Snyder Optometric. Dr. Kunkel practices full-scope optometry ranging from pediatric exams, to cataract evaluations, specialty contact lens fitting, and management of various eye diseases.
Outside of optometry, Matt enjoys playing golf, basketball, and spending time at his family’s lake home in southern Minnesota. Matt and Beth have two children.
